The four protagonists of the movie, all in their forties, come from a middle-class background. Salvatore (Salvatore Sansone), Annamaria (Stefania Troise), Alfonso (Alfonso Postiglione) and Riccardo (Riccardo Zinna) are all originally from Naple

s and share an intense friendship. Their job obliges them to move to other areas of the country. Only the funeral of their closest friend, Antonio, can bring them back together after several years. It’s the occasion to have dinner together and share and recall old memories. Their gathering lasts for the whole night, at the end of which they grab a taxi together. Raffaele (Nino D’Angelo), the driver, acts as a sort of Neapolitan Charon: giving them lessons of life, he tours  these lost souls through the maze of the city.
