A multifaceted figure, during his early career he revolutionized the national TV and Radio importing American formats and shows in Italy. Nowadays, he is one of the main representatives of Italian culture abroad, being the President of the worldwide renowned Umbria Jazz Festival, and probably the most appreciated contemporary interpreter of Neapolitan Music, which he plays with his Orchestra Italiana. In this first part of our interview, Renzo shared with us his opinions on Italian TV today. He defined it as the media of the neighborhood, a meeting point where people gossip all day long, as if they were sitting on the doorsteps of their townhouses. However, he also confessed us that he would love to present a new TV show, something original, different from what they broadcast today. I always proposed the altro, the alternative. My secret dream is to have an opportunity to do it once again. Finally, we talked about internet, which he defines as providential for having the power of encouraging people to stay informed and network on the web. Butdoes Renzo watch TV? What is pasqualismo?
